Very good fresh fish, fries and salads. Didn't like the milanesa, though. Very friendly staff, perfectly situated across from Teatro Solís. Were there in the evening, not too full, nice people.

Once new when its german owner settled in Montevideo, Café Bacacay quickly became a classic in this strategic location for its quality service and culturally rich and diverse customers.

Small inviting place to eat and have coffee all day long. Grab a chivito or sit outside and try a homemade lemonade while chatting with friends. The atmosphere is cosmopolitan with Amélie's soundtrack playing in the background. There's free Wi-Fi upon request. Consider paying by credit card to benefit from VAT exemption as a tourist. The waiter will be thankful for any extra "propina". Enjoy your break!

I can report that I had a very good rib-eye steak here, very tender, juicy and exceptionally tasty. They did not have tannat wine by the glass, but I had a couple of glasses of the house red blend which was very nice. Quiet when we were there, but clean and pleasant with neutral decor.

we had breakfast this morning here. the staff is super friendly. the location is extremely easy to find using google maps. the price is very affordable. the variety of food is awesome. i recommend comming here for a very healthy and good breakfast.

I was just there on my 1st night in Montevideo. The staff was great and very welcoming. They made me feel right at home and explained a few local dishes to me with which I was unfamiliar. The bartender was great and gave me a sample of vermouth; it brought me back to my time in Madrid.I ordered off the tapas menu. The portions were actually bigger than I expected for tapas. I hope I can make it back on this trip.
